Mount Meru Trek
Mount Meru – The Untouched Trek of Tanzania
Mount Meru (4,566m) is Tanzania’s second-highest peak, located in the heart of Arusha National Park. This dormant stratovolcano offers a spectacular trekking experience through diverse landscapes, from lush forests and alpine meadows to rocky ridges overlooking sweeping savannahs. Along the trail, trekkers may encounter wildlife such as giraffes, buffalos, elephants, and a variety of bird species, making the climb both an adventure and a nature experience.
The trek usually takes 3–4 days and is considered an excellent acclimatization climb for those preparing to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro. Less crowded than other popular treks, Mount Meru rewards climbers with dramatic crater views and breathtaking panoramas of Kilimanjaro rising in the distance. Whether as a standalone adventure or a warm-up for Africa’s highest peak, Mount Meru offers a challenging yet unforgettable journey.
